WHAT IS TREE LOPPING?

Everybody has slightly different take on the tree lopping definition. In my view it is like a slang word within the tree industry itself, however in most cases people are just referring to the ‘Lopping off’ off tree branches. The term itself can just as easily be interchanged with ‘Tree Pruning’, ‘Tree Cutting’ , ‘Tree Surgery’ or ‘Tree Maintenance’.

Many people refer to tree removal companies as ‘Tree Loppers’, which is slightly true is guess. In the eyes of professional arborists, a tree lopper could just as easily be a term given to un-qualified arborists that engage in tree maintenance activities. This is why you should always do your due diligence before hiring a tree service. It is not illegal for un-qualified people to remove trees in australia, but it carries more risk to you.

REASONS FOR TREE LOPPING

Crown Reduction / Crown Raising

In some cases the crown of the tree may become too large after many years of growth. By crown we are referring to the leave and upper branch structure. This extra density can cause poor light conditions for smaller species at ground level, hence stunting thier growth potential. It may also be the case that the extra canopy weight puts extra stress on the trees structural integrity during adverse weather conditions. Lopping off branches and limbs in the crown to reduce weight can make the tree safer in storm conditions.
